Stable moss, it is incredibly soft, requires no care or maintenance, and is beautiful on the eye and touch! Almost all the trends in interior design last year were somehow related to plants. We pay more attention to ecology and energy efficiency, we install air purification plants for the home and water filters, and we select materials and buy accessories with floral motifs. Today, nature is close even to the inhabitants of the largest cities! And thanks to the stabilized moss, you can decorate your home with lively decoration. At the same time, you can use it even if your cacti have not taken root before. But this unusual plant does not need watering or care.

Where did the moss come from on the walls of apartments and houses? Will you be surprised if we say that stabilized moss comes from Scandinavia? It seems that this is a region that will never stop providing us with new products and solutions! Decorative moss can also be found in the CIS countries, but with us it is only just beginning to gain popularity. Cladonia deer, also called Icelandic moss, grows in cold regions – including northern Europe and North America. However, his biggest birthplace is the place where reindeer live – hence his name. Deer, because this plant is a favorite delicacy of these animals.

Moss is harvested manually and in limited quantities so as not to damage the balance of the ecosystem in which it grows. Then it is cleaned and subjected to a stabilization process and possible coloring. Stabilization is nothing more than a plant’s sleep. Thanks to the stabilization of moss, all its properties will be preserved, but it will not grow anymore. This process involves the introduction of a specially created solution into decorative moss juices, the most important component of which is glycerin (soap). Stabilized decorative moss looks natural, soft and resilient, and at the same time it does not require care and does not fall off the walls. The whole process and end result are non-toxic and biodegradable.
How to grow stabilized moss with your own hands? It is easy to grow it yourself – it is not at all difficult. It can grow on any natural surface. The recipe for a stabilized moss mix:
One of the easiest ways to grow moss is to mix with a blender pieces of moss (3 handfuls), 0.5l kefir, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of hydrogel (small colored balls) and a little water. Mix with a blender for about 2 minutes. Using this mixture, you can grow moss using a natural base, such as a board, a flexible cortical tile or brick, and wait a few days until it grows. Apply a thin layer of the mixture on the surface of the base and wait. It is worth remembering that the substrate should be natural and comfortable for moss – it will not grow well on plastic or metal. At the initial stages of growth, moss should be covered with a film to accumulate moisture and accelerate growth. It takes 5 weeks to grow a decent layer of moss.
In addition, such moss needs care if it is not stabilized (euthanized) with a glycerin mixture. But first, you should paint the plant with a special natural dye. Then you need to dilute the cubes of glycerol in boiling water in a ratio of 1: 2. Then fill the surface of the moss with a hot and thick solution and after 30 days the moss will go into hibernation – it will become stabilized.
